We drove most of the way in silence, unable to sift through our slew of thoughts to make conversation.
Excitement slowly rose in my stomach as it attempted to untangle itself from the thickening nerves. There was a good chance the struggle would result in me throwing up by the end of the morning.
We had no idea what to expect. This was something we had never done before. We were scared. We were giddy. We were two young adults buying our first home.
My signature got more aggressive as I signed each form that got me closer to owning the foreclosed, abandoned property I had waited 47 agonizing days for.
I got tears in my eyes as we walked to the car. I'm still not sure if it was because for the first time in my life I actually owned something that was solely mine, or if was just a reaction to the puke rising in my throat at the thought of 30 years of debt.
I'll be a college graduate in one week with no idea what path I'll blaze, where I'll go or who I'll be, but I'll have a house.
